The Import Series arranges information in a relevant and unique way, allowing us to cover Direct Injection and various modern intake systems in more depth than we ever could in our previous manufacturer-specific products. It has also made it possible to take a broader approach to the inter-action between fueling and breathing systems, and examines how this complicates modern engine management diagnostics. Despite manufactur-ers’ many names and configurations, our ‘High Level’ diagnostic approach is universal. In practical terms, this means initially performing the easiest tests that return the most information, reserving invasive tests for later in the diagnostic process when they make sense. These tests are rarely found in flow charts because they were developed in shops based on actual failures. This unique approach trims diagnostic times for all systems covered in this manual and seminar, including: Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI), carbon deposit determination & resolution, Electronic Throttle Con-trols (ETC), wastegate & bypass turbochargers, variable intake systems, and integrated crankcase breathing.
